Heritage Week: Millowners and Paupers – the parish of St. Luke’s (Saturday, August 29)

Historian Dr Aoife Bhreatnach will talk on the history of St.Luke’s Church and the surrounding churchyard.

The event will start at 2.30 pm right outside St. Luke’s Church and is expected to finish at around 4 pm.

We will visit the graveyards too so please wear suitable shoes as the ground is uneven.

Buses 206 and 207 bring you from the city to Douglas. They leave from the South Mall.

Coming by car drive towards the Fingerpost roundabout, take the exit for Carrigaline. Turn right after about 200 meters, go straight on and turn right again after going underneath the bridge. That will bring you onto Churchyard Lane.

The entrance to St. Luke’s Church is from Churchyard Lane.

There are a limited number of car parking spaces available in front of St. Luke’s Church. There are more parking spaces next to St. Columba’s Church (about 100 meters from St. Luke’s). A bit further away free parking is also available in the Douglas Community Park and the Douglas Village Shopping Centre.

There is paid on-street parking available outside St. Luke’s Church.
