July 15th: Douglas Day

On Sunday next, 15th July, a big community event (“Douglas Day”) will take place in the Community Park, being organized by Marie Piper (Gregan) who has put in a fantastic effort to fundraise for Crumlin Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. This house is a home-from-home for parents of very sick children who need the services of the hospital.  It is a cause close to Marie’s heart, as her grandson, Ryan, was there recently to be assessed for heart surgery.  McDonald House is funded by volunteers like Marie, as their way of showing their gratitude for the hospitality the families of the children receive at a very stressful and anxious time of their lives.  Bring a picnic with you if you like – there will be plenty space for everyone!

Sharon Piper from Carousel will be there on the day and will be donating 100% of the proceeds to the cause.  There will be market stalls, entertainers, clowns, face painters, and we will be holding a plant sale, so anyone with extra plants to plant up over the next week, please bring them along on Sunday, and contribute to this very worthy cause.  The event will take place from 12 noon and the Deputy Lord Mayor will be opening it.
