Clean-up after Thursday’s flooding

Severe flooding in the village centre of Douglas caused heavy damage to many businesses. We hope that they can open soon again.

Butterfly garden clean-up

The last two weeks we were very busy in and around the Butterfly Garden – with great results.

Two very busy weeks

The last two weeks were extremely busy. We were out almost every second day planting, weeding, painting, … We were so busy we had no time to take pictures! And there’s more work to do.

Big thanks to everyone who managed to give us a hand!

May 25th: A successful fundraising evening

Our fundraising event was a very big success! Everyone enjoyed the fantastic perfomances and there was a really great atmosphere.

MC Seán Ó Sé guided us through the evening, which was opened by the Douglas Church Choir. Then tenor Dan Twomey took to the stage, followed by more great acts: soprano Fiona O’Reilly, the Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir and The Choristers. Finally the evening concluded with a sing-along with Ré Nua, where everyone joined in.

We’d like to thank everyone who helped to organise this event, all those who bought tickets for this evening, the businesses who donated spot prizes and each act who gave us so much joy. A particular thank you goes to Marian O’Sullivan and her family who did tremendous work ensuring that the evening was a big success.

The money raised during the evening already allowed us to buy plants and planters, and will mean that we can continue with many projects to enhance Douglas.

Planting

Here some pictures from the planting on Wednesday evening. A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who gave a hand and to Stonewall Garden Centre for providing the plants at a massive discount.
We’d also like to thank the owners of Lal Quila and Barry’s pub. Both offered to support us; Lal Quila promised to take care of the watering of the big planter and offered us a nice meal, Barry’s invited us to coffee and scones. Great to see our work appreciated.
